AMOC Championship Race Silverstone
This is a race for 50's sports cars and has the XK challenge and the AMOC championship races within it although I am not yet sure how it is working in terms of class wins!
I think you can win the 50's sports car race and also get a class win etc.
I assume for the XK challenge again there would be a winner and also class wins.
AMOC Championship an overall winner of the race and class winners.
Qualifying 15 mins:-
Weather cold, windy and very wet. Qualifying : 15 mins. Rain with standing water on track.
Grid: 20 cars
Qualifying Position: 11
Best Lap Time: 1.38.455
The car race well in terms of the handling in the very wet conditions but the car had a small miss-fire but with the sow speeds this was not a major problem.
I was very please with the handling of the car and the car was well planted to the track with no issues.
The Race: 20 Mins
Classification :- 14
Best Lap Time: 1.27.417
I think I was 2nd overall in the Historic AMOC Championship Race but I am not sure.
I think I was 1st in Class A3 in the AMOC Championship?
I have a very good start from11th on the grid and by the time we were turning on the old club straight I think I was 5th having overtaken several cars going into and through coppice.
Once I started to open up onto the straight the problem of a miss-fire started and the car would not rev over 5,000 rpm in 3rd gear or 4,500 rpm in 4th. As a result all the cars plus more just drove past me and there was nothing I could do.
I was still competitive in the corners and made up ground but was left behind on the straights and found it hard to keep in front of slower cars because of the miss-fire.
After the race it was discovered that the problem was a faulty fuel pump which did not allow enough fuel to the webers and all the issues.
I think the car has great potential now that the handing is much better and the engine has more torque but we just need to iron out these simple faults leading to below par results.
