Woodcote Trophy Race

The car ran well but it took the first 3 laps to get the new tyres scrubbed in and some heat into the tyres. Once the tyres were up to temperature the car started to handle much better and the lap times were improving.

It was difficult coming from the back especially with the new tyres on the car but we made 34 position from a starting position of 45. This would set us up much better for the second race on the Sunday morning.
Julian mentioned a small miss-fire towards the end of the race and a slight loss of power.

Race 2:-  Sunday morning

Overall Position:- DNF.

In race 2 the car felt very good during the green flag lap and all was well until I entered the Hanger straight and I heard a noise and the car started to miss-fire and slow.

I waved the D-Type behind me passed and the fire car and then slowly drove back to the National pits. After the event we discovered that the distributor had broken and moved off line by 100'.

This was a pity for Julian as the car felt much better and the brakes were better with a good pedal and straight braking.

Some fantastic cars in the Pre 63 GT Race

The Race:- 1 Hour

Weather:- Dry and Sunny
Mandatory Pit Stop. 20mins to 40mins.

Overall Position:-28
Best Lap Time:-2.53.086
Total Laps:-17

On the 2 or 3rd lap an MGA ran into the back of the car as we went through Vale and into club corner. The Yellow Alfa in front of me had to brake hard, I did the same but unfortunately the MGA did not. Fortunately I was able to carry on with no problems just a big bill after the race.

A very enjoyable race and the car ran very well except for the last 2-3 laps when the car was a little down on power which caused a few problems with lack of speed down the straights. On the second to last lap three of the cars I had over taken earlier in the race started to catch up on the straights and two of them got passed. I managed to re-over take the Turner MKII going into club just before the chequered flag.
